Vaginoplasty

What is vaginal tightening surgery (vaginoplasty)?
Vaginoplasty is a vaginal rejuvenation surgery performed to correct vaginal hyperlaxity, stretching of vaginal canal tissues, tone and contractile capacity of vaginal muscles.

What is vaginal hyperlaxia?
Vaginal hyperlaxity is a frequent phenomenon after birth, especially in long, complex, instrumented deliveries or newborns weighing more than 3,000 g.
Vaginal hyperlaxity is caused by a deficiency in the tonicity of the perineal muscles. Women suffering from it, first of all, experience a decrease in sensitivity during sexual intercourse and abundant discharge of water from the vagina after bathing.

Why is vaginoplasty done?
Vaginoplasty is a vaginal tightening surgery whose main purpose is to shrink the vaginal canal and improve sexual life.
It is common to associate other vulvar rejuvenation techniques such as labiaplasty to remove over-aged skin at the level of the labia minora, or enlargement of the labia majora to improve the smoothness and hydration of the vulva with hyaluronic acid infiltrations.

Who can do vaginoplasty?
* The feeling of having a wide vaginal canal, making sexual intercourse difficult due to "floating" penetrations and vaginal gases.
* Those bothered by vaginal laxity or excessive laxity, an elongated or very open vulva, and an abnormally swollen vagina.
* Those who have had an episiotomy.
* Those who want to experience quality sexuality.
* Evolution of cases to the appearance of prolapse or urinary incontinence.

Why is it done?
Vaginal tightening surgery is performed on women who want to correct the enlargement of the vaginal canal due to birth, age or menopause.
Vaginal rejuvenation or vaginoplasty is an increasingly common surgery that results in a narrower vagina and stronger pelvic muscles.
The aim is to restore the tone and contractile capacity of the vaginal muscles.

How is vaginal tightening surgery performed?
The vaginoplasty procedure consists of surgically reshaping the fascial tissues surrounding the vaginal canal to restore both the original diameter of the vagina (before birth) and the elasticity of the vagina, as well as strengthening the pelvic floor to prevent sagging. incontinence The intervention will be performed in the operating room, usually under epidural anesthesia (at the discretion of the anesthesiologist), it will takes approximately 90 minutes and does not require hospitalization.

 Postoperative
Vaginal tightening surgery is not usually a painful type of surgery. It is recommended to take anti-inflammatory during the first 3 days after the intervention.
It is normal for the patient to feel some discomfort in the first 48 hours after surgery. During this time, it is necessary to rest and apply cold to the affected area. Stitches can be absorbed and will disappear after 10 days. The patient can resume work activity after 3 or 4 days with minimal precautions and the surgeon will check every week that the healing is progressing properly. Activities such as horse riding or cycling are not recommended for up to 6 weeks after the intervention.
